Why not?
Two games ago Barry Trotz told the media during his scrum that many players were playing over their head, terrible, to a man, and that some had to show more to prove they were NHLers. This was after a dismal road trip where the team wasn't close to good enough defensively.
Now, obviously, Trotz has the support of the entire organization, so maybe that's why he's able to say those things and why Hartley can't?
Hartley certainly isn't the only Flames coach that has been seemingly compelled to coddle the team rather than give an honest assessment.
