3 years ago, people were saying that this organization was going down the wrong path and that the cupboards were bare; that there would be an inevitable downward spiral...
today, people are saying we don't need a full rebuild.
I honestly think we are there right now. tied for last in the Western Conference? With the "best" lineup we can ice?
Gentlemen, we are on the edge of a rebuild, I just don't think people realize it. Trading some assets, like Iggy, Kipper, Jaybo, Cammy etc may shorten the pain (and possibly not as some have noted).
But if this is the best we can do, prepare yourself for a team perpetually fighting for 10th, let alone a playoff spot.
Who are the bright spots? Brodie? Sven? Backlund? These are nice pieces, but they haven't shown that they are elite players. Certainly not players that are going to take a team deep into a playoff run.
A Stanley Cup core needs to be drafted. That's why it makes zero sense to trade those picks... even if you are close to a playoff spot, it is short term thinking...
