Reality says that both the Flames and Oilers are god awful teams. The difference is that everyone in the media and their fan base had Edmonton as a team that would be in the playoff mix and the Flames would be god awful. The fact that the Oilers after all of their top draft picks are still god awful is the only bright life in a poopy season.

If the Flames were tied for 10th in terms of winning percentage in the western conference, you can sure as hell bet that you would be saying that the Flames were a bubble team. If the use of simple math makes me a real caricature of a hockey fan, then I am guilty as charged.
At least the use of math is no longer ridiculed on this board in relation to the Flames, just when one analyzes another team.
