One person was killed and another critically injured in a crash during the commute home on Tuesday.

The three-vehicle collision happened around 4 p.m. on 16 Avenue N.W. and Crowchild Trail, near McMahon Stadium.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and shut down both directions of 16 Avenue between 19 Street and 29 Street. Parts of Banff Trail and University Drive are also closed.
