While I appreciate the sarcasm and tend to share your skepticism, it has to be acknowledged that the inevitable inactivity of the Flames may be more a product of underwhelming returns being offered for Flames players than an unwillingness to finally turn the page. Even the most inept of management types would have to acknowledge that we've seen show before and it doesn't end well. Unless the Flames have discovered the fountain of youth, and are keeping it to themselves, next year will bring further erosion for the aging core of this team. Sadly, if the Flames can finally see the flaw in their thinking, other teams see this as well.

I'd like to think that vets like Iginla, Kipper, and even JBo could be sent to teams who are built for present success, but I fear that the Flames are now dealing from a position of weakness because they failed to make these moves a year or two ago. Perhaps Feaster will surprise and swing some solid deals, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't move assets because the return would lead to him being skewered.

If Feaster wants to survive this era he's gonna have to dance with fire and accept picks, not second tier prospects, for his vets, and then bust his hump to make sure those picks are used in a wise fashion.
