Under the new CBA the Flames can keep up to half his cap hit and salary for the rest of his contract. What is his trade value if his cap hit is only $3M-$4 for next year? There is a big opportunity for rich teams to use their money to 'buy' assets under this CBA in my opinion. I think we could really ramp up a 'rebuild' by taking advantage of this.
Imagine what Bouwmeester could be worth with a cap hit of 3.3 to 4.5 for next year. With the cap going down I could see a team that thinks it has a window of this year and next being willing to give up a lot for that extra cap space.
