I'd love to make the playoffs, but more importantly I want to WIN in the playoffs.
Hopefully management recognizes this isn't quite yet a championship team, but man do these wins demonstrate that we may not be as far out as some people imagine.
A few tweaks here and there at this years deadline may risk our opportunity for a playoff berth this year, but spell a greater team next year. Hopefully they do the right thing
But more importantly: WHOOOOOOO!!!!

I don't think there is a championship team in today's NHL. Look at Pittsburgh and Chicago, both 1st round exits both of the last 2 seasons.
Vancouver and Boston, 2011 finalists, 2012 1st round victims.
If you say the Flames should be a consistent playoff participant then I'll agree with you, some tweaks need to be made. But there are no 'championship' calibre teams. Playoff positioning no longer matters, just get in.
The Flames could just as easily win or lose in the 1st round as much as Chicago could easily win or lose in the first round (ir)regardless of who either of them play.
Look at the stupid Oilers. Blow it up and rebuild with 3 first overall picks and they are nowhere near getting into the crapshoot. Full rebuild in a cap system is really dumb.
