To me, that episode highlighted what I like most about the show and that's seeing the different types of characters outside of the normal comfort zone and how they react to this situation. How they have changed. We have only seen Morgan's character in two episodes and he was completely changed and it was totally believable.
I could care less if there is zero zombies killed or 300 in an episode. This is a character driven show and we learned things about 4 characters in this episode.
Yes, in terms of the Woodbury/Prison angle, absolutely nothing progressed outside of the crew getting more guns, but as a one-off, I see nothing wrong with going away from the norm.
For example, look at the Sopranos, a classic TV drama that changed TV. Undeniably, two most popular episodes are College and Pine Barrens where the viewer is taken away from the comfort zone and characters are explored in different way.
If done right, having an isolated episode like what we saw two episodes ago in Walking Dead is fantastic.
