That's the thing...this team doesnt have to ship out everyone to get back on the right path. Even just 2 key guys traded for youth/picks would be a huge step in the right direction both psychologically and operationally.

Honestly, even if they only ship out the driftwood for picks, it would be something.

But unfortunately, we just keep humming and hawing, year after year, till all our players lose both their talent and their value. It's not losing that drives me crazy, it's the whole whittling-gold-into-sh*t way of doing business that the Calgary Flames have perfected.

Even if you are too scared to make the big-boy decisions, every trade deadline gives you an opportunity to cut out the fat no matter who you are, and we never seem to take advantage. If during the last few years, they at least shipped out the periphery guys who were clearly on their way out anyway (i.e. Jokinen) and got 3rds and 4ths out them instead of didly, we would at least have more prospect depth. If you can't win with the big moves, at least make sure you're making lots of small ones....but we can't even do that.
