It's a conspiratorial move by "The Government" which needs another 9/11 to fool The Sheeple into supporting its global dominating agenda. Explosives are already being built into the new towers being constructed in New York.

Another alternative is its a dumb move by people with short memories who didn't bother asking people on the front lines, flight attendants, what they thought.

Or, maybe it is true that someone with a small knife can no longer get into a cockpit of a commercial airliner in this day and age and therefore terrorists aren't bothering with this strategy anymore and it makes sense to make explosives the real focus.
