Being an oiler fan watching this saga with the flames the past few years is really no different than the crap oiler fans have had to put up with. The oilers made offersheets, attempted to land the big fish to avoid a complete rebuild. Fact is none of that worked and they were forced to rip it up completely. I don't see the flames current practices resulting in anything different. Like it or not. Money wasn't an issue in edmonton like it isn't with calgary but that still doesn't fix huge holes.
