I think you need to give posters here a little more credit.

We're not all 12 year old kids, many of us actually watch the games and have many years of experience and know what to look for.

Cervenka has points, but can you honestly say that's he's been effective? Especially of late? Lately, he's been down right terrible. I cut him some slack early in the year because of his health, but he's only getting worse.

What we see is a guy who has no first step, can't elude backchecks, has no strength to battle, and therefore does not engage physically (not that he has to as long as he's creating offense, but he is not), and just basically a skill player who cannot get to the areas he needs to score.

I think my biggest crutch about the scouting of the Flames is not so much Cervenka's skill, because I agree he has skill, but it's more the failure to realize that the guy is not a centreman. If they recognized that, and did their due dilligence, maybe they wouldn't have spent a contract spot on another redundant winger in Comeau and instead focused on signing a centreman instead?

My post was not necessarily to bash Cervenka, but more to bash the Flames scouting on them selling us on Cervenka as a centremen. It's just a greater indication that this management team has no clue on how to build a winning and competitive team because they don't understand the importance of quality centreman and what qualities to look for in a quality centreman.
