First off, I am in the "DO NOT TRADE IGGY!" camp. Players that play their entire career with one team are rare, and I have my doubts that the Flames have ever been offered a significant package of players and picks that Sutter or Feaster should have accepted. Iginla should already have won a Cup here in Calgary and his two Olympic gold medals ensure automatic entry into the Hall of Fame. I would be much more open to trading Kipper or JayBo, but seeing Iggy play for another team would suck as much as it did watching my first favourite Flame win a Cup as an Oiler.
If we don't trade Iginla, and he signs with another team as a UFA, are we really left with "nothing"? Aren't we left with seven million dollars of cap space that can be spent elsewhere?
