The wild card could result in some odd scenarios;
The top division winner based on regular-season points in the standings would face off against the lower-ranked wild-card team. The other division winner would play the higher-ranked wild-card.
So, even if none of the 5th place teams gain a wildcard spot, the 4th place teams in each division could still cross over and play the 1st place team in the other division.
I still like it...but will produce some odd results....wont always be an divisional match up in the first 2 rds...in fact I'd think the crossover would happen regularly.
