Assuming you have already done this, but just in case.

Right click -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced -> Owner Tab-> Edit ->
Choose current User from list
Check box to Replace Owner on Subcontainers and Objects.
Click Apply

Right click -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced, Permission Tab:
Check box Replace all child object permissions with inheiritable perminssions from this object.
If current user is in the Permission entries, select it, hit Edit and ensure it has full control.
If it isn't, then click Add and add it with Full Control.
Then Apply.

But it really sounds like there are issue with the disk. A tool like TestDisk might help.
