I have an eerie feeling that a deal involving Iginla would go down as being catastrophic in the annals of history for this team. There's always that off-chance that he'd return a decent prospect or two and a pick that may or may not pan out, but I personally don't support seeing him shipped off elsewhere in the hopes that he can win a cup and that we can significantly improve this organization's future. I also have the feeling that both he and the organization (hopefully) feel the same way.

I'd eat crow if something positive came out of such a deal, but I just can't get excited about the idea of watching a Flames team without Iginla. I know it's a business in the end, and the primary goal of that business is to win, but one of the goals is to also retain classy talent like Iggy that will act as a magnet for the team and the game. We've been lucky to have him, and if the team can continue trying to improve while keeping him in a Flames jersey, I'm all for it.
