So I am trying to get files off an old IDE drive and I am running into ownership issues. Each file I got to it is causing me to go and change the ownership which is quite tedious. I tried changing it on folder level and apply to all files within and it is not helping still won't change individual files. I have also tried takeown in command prompt and it always runs then hits a problem and says device is unresponsive mid may through. Is there an easier way to do this? All the files I want are in one area of the old drive.
