OP,
Those are the two most over-priced brands you could possibly find. There are much better value for the money out there. If you're willing to pay $350-450, you can get some really great equipment.
At that price point, the "best" often comes down to what sound you prefer. Some people want basier, some want warmer, some want clarity, etc...

Get an idea of what kind of sound you are looking for. Then research specific brands/models that fit that description.

Just saw your AKG update. That's a much much better choice. Look at the reviews and make sure it's the set for you though.
