ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the team has traded forward Keith Tkachuk to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for a first round draft choice in 2007, a third round draft choice in 2007, a second round draft choice in 2008 and forward Glen Metropolit.
In addition, if Atlanta re-signs Tkachuk, the Blues will acquire a first round draft choice in 2008

That 1st round choice turned into Calgary's too because we traded down. It that 07 first rounder ended up being Backlund (The Blues took Ian Cole with the Flames 1st they traded up for)
If you look at it in the end the deal was:
Tkachuk
for
Metropolit (Gave them 20 games and 5 points)
Backlund (Turned into Cole for them but the pick in the trade selected Backlund)
Brett Sonne (World Juniors Gold medalist, career AHLer with 3rd line #'s, hasn't played a NHL game yet)
Philip McRae (Scored his first and only career goal against Miikka Kiprusoff and the Flames, big surprise there eh)
Not incredible value when you look at it. It boils down to how we draft if we look at getting picks for our big name guys if we do indeed start clearing the shelves.
