He's 20, and a late 20 at that.
I believe his contract could slide because he was 18 when he signed it, but the way things are worded is a little confusing:

Then, the lockout adds an extra level of confusion because they set the slide limit at 6 games this year. With the 5 games he played last season, he's already played 9 NHL games.
Either way, it's clear that the Flames have no intention of keeping him out of the line-up, so it's all really academic at this point.
