‘We’re not introducing a provincial sales tax, period’: Redford

Premier Alison Redford appeared Thursday to rule out any possibility of her government bringing in a sales tax despite pressure from economists and some former cabinet ministers to do so to reduce the province’s dependency on oil.

“We’re not introducing a provincial sales tax, period,” she told reporters following a Conservative caucus meeting at Government House in Edmonton. “I’ll say it again tomorrow if you would like.”
