Iginla shouldn't have to ask for a trade to save us. Its not his responsibility to 'save us'. The team has to be honest with itself and make the move.
The fans aren't going to run away if he's dealt. I don't think there are many fans out there who think 11th with Iginla is much different than 14th without him. Its still out of the playoffs.
After next year, the team is going to have a ton of cap space with Bouwmeester, Kipper, Cammalleri and Stajan coming off the books. You really don't have to have an endless rebuild despite what Edmonton is showing. Make some trades to rebuild the prospect pool and land a couple of decent vets and you can be back in the mix in two-three years.
