The problem is we missed the right moment to trade Iggy and Kipper. In comparison, both Nieuwendyk and Fleury were traded in their prime so we got Iggy and Regehr - two players that you can build the team around.
It's not gonna happen this time when selling 35 year old aging power forward and 37 year old athletic goalie. Instead, Flames should IMHO focus on trading Glencross, Tanguay, Giordano, Stempniak and Cammy.
Glenny + Tangs + pick for a potential impact player would make sense
At this point I'd rather keep Iggy as the 2nd liner and mentoring type if he's willing to stay for a reasonable money. Same for Kipper as a backup goalie.
So in other words - keep Iggy and Kipper, everybody else older than 27 good bye (assuming Butler is 27 already)
