I don't know about that. That's like calling to hand chopping a guy over the head "high sticking".
A slew foot is a dirty and dangerous play. Where Gio did it was especially dangerous due to his proximity to the boards.
Due to Gio being a 1st time offender (right?) and the apparent lack of malicious intent, I can't see a suspension. But it's a dirty play and should be addressed (even witty just a phone call/meeting re supplemental discipline).
