I know a few people who do the same thing. However some of them used to be the type to never respond to emails, so at least sometimes the two word message is better than no reply at all.
But I still think it's a superiority complex. We have a Blackberry at work for when we go on call, and all my "Crackberry" user friends get bent out of shape when they find out I've forwarded the phone portion to my old Star Tac cell phone so I don't have to have this big bulky thing on my hip.
