This is true. My apartment here in Shanghai is not gigantic by any means, but it's fine for brewing. The space required is very little.
I have a Belgian tripel that is pretty much ready to go right now and be bottled. A keg set up is ideally what I would like to put it into, but don't have that just yet.
I have never used a home brew kit. I was just instructed in whole grain brewing by a friend of mine and it's really not too difficult. If I was in Canada where supplies were cheaper and easier to get I would do a lot more. It's a cool hobby.
