My folks were quite involved with the volunteering for the Olympics.
Prior to the Olympics they were hosts at the Olympic Information centre in Palliser square which provided them with the opportunity to meet all of the visiting dignitaries who came to the city in the two years prior to the games (they would often bring my sister and I along - in a shoebox somewhere are a bunch of photos of us with royalty, politicians and actors who stopped by).
Here is a copy of the (very cheesy) orientation video shown to all visitors who stopped by the centre.
