I really doubt it's just that. When Iginla made the mistake in the Minnesota game you were asking for a GIF and whining how awful he is. If Roman Horak made that same turnover I am willing to bet you would be preaching how unlucky and bad of a bounce it was and Horak should not be to blame.
What I think it is is unrighteous bias. So many people are caught up in the young players movement that they will do anything to defend them and do the opposite towards any veterans.
Irving is a rookie yes, but right now he has been put into a position to be our starting goaltender and he needs to be treated like any other starting goaltender would. He needs to be held accountable for his mistakes just like any other player.
