This is what I've been saying all along. Just because you throw tear gas in a house doesn't mean it's DEFINITELY going to catch fire but there is a chance. They tried pumping gas in earlier but it wasn't strong enough so they used CS canisters.
At this point in time, the particulate matter inside the canister is expelled using smoke, which causes a lot of heat.
I really don't know why you are focussing on the fact they used tear gas. The guy was on a murder rampage, stole vehicles, conducted home invasions, forcibly confined civilians and threatened more murders. You're really that worried about his welfare?
Don't forget, Dorner had AMPLE opportunities to give himself up and end this peacefully. He chose they way this ended and no one else.
