I like Iginla, I think he's a good guy. He's been a warrior for the Flames. But he has one of the biggest gaps between being on and off of any player I've seen where a Flames jersey since maybe Kent Nilsson.

That just isn't acceptable when you're a captain.

I have my head fully around the idea that he isn't 25 any more, and I expect and have no problem with a decline.

But when you don't seem to care about defensive coverage, you stop skating when you get the puck, and you lose every single battle including the turn over that leads to Minnesota's only goal?

You're not showing up.

He's better than that, and last night it looks like he was angry enough to prove it.

Hope Warrener rides him all season.
Sorry but I think that's crap. The guy has been a consistent scorer in the league for over a decade, and he gets labelled as inconsistent. The only reason he looks on and off is that he's always in the spotlight on this team. Everyone watching a Flames game knows when Iggy is on the ice, and his every shift gets scrutinized. That, in combination with his reputation, leads to expectations that he should be scoring pretty much every shift and every game. When he doesn't, people get disappointed and he gets labelled as inconsistent, or not fired up.
