Yeah, obviously the past few seasons haven't been any sort of rebuild, so I didn't count those. When Enoch pointed out how long it took LA and Chi were out of it, they similarly had several years of stumbling aimlessly before finally landing a top 3 pick and climbing back up.
So if it blows up this year and we're in the McKinnon sweepstakes, it shouldn't be another 7 years on top of that before respectability, if it's done right. The oil are well into year 3 or 4 of their rebuild and not anywhere close to Chi or LA at the same point in time, which is why they're going to waste the cheapest years of their star players careers without a shot at the cup.
