I don't know I have been fooled every year to think this team is better than it actually is. We are now at the point where Iggy, and Kipper are getting quite old and they are still the main keys to the Flames being a playoff team.

I have heard Edwards does not want to suffer through 7 years of bad hockey like the Flames of 96-03. I am starting to get worried that Oilers fans were right and we are starting to trend the way they did in 06/07. Try hard for 2-3 years to make playoffs and fail then be forced to go through a very painful rebuilding process.

Circumstances have forced his hand. He probably didn't want to trade him. He probably still doesn't. Nonetheless, trading the captain is the most responsible thing he can do for the future of this franchise.

The Calgary Flames are supposed to compete for the Stanley Cup. That is the goal. The goal is not to assist Jarome Iginla with the accumulation of personal stats and get him into the Hall of Fame.

Feaster isn't going to quit over this. He quit his last job because ownership forced him to sign Lecavalier to an insane contract, but I doubt very much he walks away over the decision to trade a 35 year old pending UFA winger. Even one as important as Jarome Iginla.
