On sunday nights they've been running a documentary review of SNL broken down by decades, they even know that they can never recapture the genius of the original cast and the bar was set to high.

It was funny with the 80's one that they realized that Eddie Murphy and Piscipo literally saved that show.

They also did the all star year where they had Billy Crystal rejoin the staff with guys like Christopher Guest and Michael Mckeon and Martin Short.

They actually thought that they were onto something when they bought on Robert Downey Jr, Anthony Michael Hall, Joan Cusack and Jon Lovitz, but the show was so bad that the last skit of the year featured them being burned alive in fire by Lorne Michaels.

With brief exceptions the show has never matched up to the original cast and has limped along for 30 years strictly to be a launching point for the next unfunny movie comedian.
