Jarome probably sees this team for what it is. It's more talented than in years past, it's fun to watch, guys like Bouw are re-discovering what made them good players, Brodie is developing into a future top-pair guy, Wideman and Hudler represent the first free agent signings in years to be almost universally and instantly well-liked. The prospect pool is getting stronger each of the past two drafts, and we've got three young guys that can possibly carry this franchise going forward.
All that's great for the Flames. They aren't going to contend this year. They aren't a playoff team this year.
I don't believe Iggy is done by any stretch. But he cannot be here after the deadline. Keeping him is selfish and it's irresponsible. I salute the captain for all he's done for this team and this city. He's going to be beloved in Calgary for the rest of his life. But the time has come.
