Ward only cares about a good record and winning, because that is what is going to get him hired for an NHL head coaching job. You can't blame him for wanting to win.
That's why i've been of the opinion that Ward is a great coach, but not a good development coach. He's young and ambitious.
What you want in a development coach is a true teacher. Someone who perhaps has been to the show already and is done with NHL egos and just wants to teach and help young kids get to the next level.
I don't know if there are coaches like that out there, but too me, it would make sense to find guys like that rather than young ambitious coaches who's number 1 priority is to win.
