The new collective bargaining agreement actually has not been fully put into place yet. There is still only an outline of the general terms, but all the fine print stuff has not been officially put in place. I’m still waiting for official confirmation, but it appears the people I talked to may have had a misunderstanding of the new CBA, which they said had a new provision that would allow O’Reilly or other restricted free agents to go UFA after two years of being unsigned – a so called “You can’t just let ‘em rot” provision.
Sorry about that if this turns out to be incorrect after all. I guess everybody is still a little confused by the new CBA – including me.
