Interesting spot to be in as Flames fans in regards to the is Iginla "content" debate. Chances are we'll get our answer this year, barring a minor miracle where the Flames are actual contenders. Problem is, the answer will be a tough one for Flames fans regardless. If Iggy doesn't ask for a trade and re-ups in Calgary, it's likely true that he's made a decision that winning isn't as important as other things in life. Not something I would fault him for at all, but from a pure Flames perspective, it means we really need to make sure there is another sherif in town with the ability to be a difference maker who is super motivated by winning, and I'm not sure where we get this at the moment.

If Iggy actually wants to win more than anything else, the rub is be won't be a Flame, as he will likely request a trade to best accommodate those desires. Again, not something if fault him for. But the catch for Flame fans is, one way or another, again barring the incredibly unlikely, I don't think we see a super cup focused Iggy moving forward in Calgary. The two goals simply don't align at the moment, as Calgary simply can't be seen right now by any rational person as a destination well set up to compete for the cup, even to Iggy.
