I understand that posters don't want a scorched earth rebuild, but i have never thought just trading Iggy was "scorched earth". Iginla is already on the decline. If we traded him now the flames would probably get a young 2nd line player and a 1st. In 2 years the young 2nd line player will probably be better than Iggy would be by then. In 2 years Iggy will probably be a full time 2nd line player that will be slightly slower and even more one dimensional. Add to it that the 1st might be something down the line worth keeping or trading, they will be better off.
All that said i would really want the flames to trade Iggy for a blue chip center prospect. I am not sure if they could get that for Iggy straight up. I would have no problem with the flames adding to the trade to make it happen. Iggy+3rd or prospect (Horak) to get a player like Schenn. Does not have to be Schenn but some blue chip prospect like him.
