You know Irvings likely going to be average again, and cough up a few goals even if the team plays well. Taylor outclassed Irving in Abby, maybe he does the same here? I don't know, no one does for sure. But windows of opportunity for goaltenders open up just about once in a millennium here in Calgary, so you give the kid a shot.

It wasn't a case of being a waste. They needed someone to backup Irving while Kipper was injured and had no other goaltender with an NHL contract.
