If Feaster and the rest of the Flames management truly thought that Taylor was a better choice to be back up than Irving, then they would have glady gave Taylor a contract and sent Irving to the minors. Irving gets the start on saturday and even if things don't go well, he gets the start against Minny as long as Kipper isn't back yet.
I don't know how many times this needs to be said. Irving was on a PTO to start the year in Abby - 25 game PTO, with the ability to sign another 25 game PTO after, giving Irving a total of 50 games in the AHL.

Seriously, does nobody even follow the prospects and the Heat here? OMG, the same BS keeps getting regurgitated in EVER THREAD.

This thread is indeed VERY valid! Irving has continually lost his starter's job on the Heat in almost every single. Keetley took it. Taylor took it - TWICE! Even Brust passed him on the depth chart. Does anyone REALLY believe that this had ANYTHING to do with his PTO? Look at his GAA and SV%. Each goalie had an EQUAL number of starts in the beginning of the season. Irving had every opportunity to steal back the starting job, but instead, he fell back behind Brust. Brust actually ended up stealing the starting job from Taylor, but Taylor stepped it up and got it back (and ended up getting his contract here). Now people are 'incensed' that a question of who should start is even brought up? LoL Seriously?

Irving won, and he should go back in net. Taylor should get another good practice in before trying his luck. However, he definitely deserves it. Why didn't the Flames sign Taylor already? Waste of a contract space for having a backup show up for a max of 5 games this season, considering who is coming in the system, and how that will likely play out for next season.

Flames should definitely give Taylor a game or two and see if he had developed to the point of becoming a good NHL goalie. He may just be a very good AHL goalie, and may not hold his head above water in the NHL. I can believe that. But to think that Irving can be so inconsistent in the AHL, but be a good NHL goalie? Something doesn't make sense here... The Flames have both under contract for just this year. Play them both in the NHL, cut bait with whomever is the worst one. Winner gets to be on the Heat next season while Ramo is backing up Kipper next season. Who really cares if Irving is a first round pick, and Taylor isn't?
