He didn't look as good last night as he has in past games, but maybe we can cut the guy some slack as he hasnt played much of anything in the last year. With the PTO in Abby and playing behind one of the best goalies ever, he showed a little rust. But everytime I've watched Irivng play hes made at least a few saves that he had no business making. I agree, he is a good goalie that looks a little rusty. As someone else mentioned, he did well last season when called upon, with the exception of that brutal Boston game where the whole team sucked. I think it's acceptable to throw that game out.
I also think there is some truth to the statement that some players are better in the NHL than in the AHL, and this might be the case with Irving. Some players, and it seems like goalies especially, will play down to or elevate their games based on their opponents.
Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing what Taylor can do. Hey, maybe he could be the next Tim Thomas. It's not unheard of for a goalie to emerge at the age of 26.
