Irving played decent enough to win under Hartleys up tempo system. If this was the sutter system would be a guaranteed loss. Definitely give him the start in Van.
Iggy has definitely been much better defensively this year. He's made a few defensive plays that had me in disbelief when I saw the number 12 on his back.
I am just loving Brodie, he's got amazing offensive instincts and still makes it a battle in the defensive zone. Great 1-2 punch with Wideman on the powerplay giving us another reliable pair with Gio-Bou.
All the haters can go away, this kind of season start should have been more than expected. Flames are notorious slow starters (mainly due to iggy) and were learning a new system with a new coach waiting for new players to join the squad. The players we didn't expect much from are the ones turning heads so far (exception is Comeau) and the rest of the team seems to be coming together just in time.
I do have a question, has anyone on CP seen Gio block a shot this year? I don't know if hes just trying to avoid pucks this year or if Hartley's system doesn't include blocking shots, but that was one of his best attributes the last few years and I've seen none of it this year.
