Bang on. I would agree with you about Traviss. The thing I loved about the Republic Commando games/novels was that they demonstrated that the clones weren't just a bunch of meat-bag robots. It tackled an interesting issue about what it means to be human, to be a person. As for the Force Unleashed, that Star Destroyer moment was both extremely cool and over the top. It reminded me a lot of the original Clone Wars cartoon where Mace Windu demonstrates his crazy over-the-top Jedi powers. This one:
I like the Starkiller story and I too thought it had a really cool twist. They could tone down some of the crazy force stuff and it would make a great movie. Plus you'd have that returning character factor in the form of Darth Vader/Palpatine.

She nearly single handedly wrecked the Legacy of the Force books with her masterbatory fantasies about Bob Fet and the "Mandos" the other writers worked really hard to position Jacen Solo as the next great Sith Lord and Karen comes along and has a 60 or 70 year old Bobba Fett kicking his a$$ from one end of the galaxy to the other.
some can't get by the fact that in the movie, Bobba Fett pretty much went out like a punk
BYW I'd love to see a movie about Dengar the bounty hunter that Vader points to when he says no disintegration.
