How do you consider a shootout loss in a game we dominated to be a great start? One of the two goals they scored in regulation was terrible, and Kipper was Kipper in the shootout which guarantees us a loss regardless of who is shooting for the Flames.
Meanwhile, Chicago's backup comes in and steals the show.
I think Kipper was playing well last night, and I think he played against the Canucks (outside of the usual shootout shenanigans). Outside of those two games, he's been garbage this year (and I do not consider his performance agains the Oilers to have been good, some questionably goals that night as well). I don't see the panic in having Irving play a few games, because we'd received sub-standard goaltending in 5 of the 7 games we've played this year. If we could have even had average goaltending in a couple of those games, we'd be in a lot better spot today.
