I know Brodie is getting a bit of a hard time for a couple of mistakes, but I still think he had a good game. He is making some typical nervous rookie mistakes, but his mobility and heads up play with the puck really round off our top 4 well... it is only a matter of time before he starts putting up points. I hope Hartley keeps him at 18-20 minutes/game.
Speaking of our top 4, with the way everyone played tonight I think this is one of the best top 4 the Flames have had in years. Hartley has Bouwmeester back in the game, Wideman IMO has been our best player this season, and Giordano was quite good tonight too, and we all know he can be even better. I'm perfectly fine with relying on those guys for well over 20 minutes a night, while limiting our bottom pairings ice time.
PK is a bit scary... they tend to chase and our D often get caught too high. Franzen burned us on that... there is no way even on the PK he should have that wide open lane to the net.
Kipper made a few really solid saves before his injury.
Backlund had a quiet game, hopefully he doesn't get into that pattern again. Fortunately his line mates Glencross/Stempniak seem to push him.
