Wahl was doing great until head injuries ultimately derailed him and he really hasn't been the same since.
Nemisz was never above ppg in the OHL and in two seasons in the AHL averaged above .5 ppg with some NHL time. You call that ruining a prospect? Ha.
The only thing Howse had going for him was his shot and coming into pro badly out of shape didn't help him at all. That's all on him.
For every player you say has been ruined by this development team the past 2 years I say one that has succeeded. Ryan Howse? Roman Horak. Mitch Wahl? TJ Brodie. Greg Nemisz? Lance Bouma. Sven Baertschi. Mikael Backlund. So my question to you is why can these players succeed under a seemingly "concerning development staff" and those players can't?
I agree that the rate of players that have been drafted by the flames that have succeeded has certainly been concerning that past decade but that has nothing to do with development staff. It is a result of trading our first and second round picks multiple times and all-round bad drafting. If John Gaudreau fails to make it into the NHL it won't be because of the development staff in the AHL, it will be because of his size.
