Question- Would you try Irving next game while the team is playing strong and really limiting shots against, and Kipper is looking shaky? I know they almost surely won't go that way, but theoretically I just have a hunch that it would get the team going having a refreshed goalie in, and at the same time would give Kipper extra motivation coming back.
Fact is, Kips had very few shots to deal with over the past few games, and yet he's let in multiple goals each game, with save percentages under .900 . I'm a big kipper fan, but right now we NEED wins. I just feel he's being uncharacteristically soft (for his standards). And in the circumstances, I don't think we can wait for him to iron out his issues, whilst allowing 3+ goals on 18-20 shots per game. It's just not good enough to close things out when we need him to. Maybe Irving, being rested and refreshed, could come in for Detroit and be solid enough to spot the team with the way the offense is playing.
Just what I would do.
