I had season tickets during the Young Guns years so I'm not going anywhere. Quite frankly I was bitter a few years ago when the plight of the team was evident and the time was right to blow it up and maximize assets. Three years later I have just accepted that I can't control owners that don't understand how to run the on-ice part of a hockey team successfully much like as a Raiders fan I was helpless to watch Al Davis draft track stars every year and sign players that didn't love football to big contracts. I waited out Al Davis and I will patiently wait out the Flames owership's misguided, and pathetic attempts at holding on to something that came and went in 2004.
It's the bandwagon fans that will lose interest and unfortunately those are the ones the owners are terrified of losing which is why they continue to prolong the inevitable in hopes of keeping the building full. Flames ownership like the Leafs long ago gave up on winning a championship. They are all about selling seats. As long as finishing 10th results in sellouts why attempt to build a championship team that during the process comes with the risk of finishing 14/15 and having a 2/3 full building? It's pretty obvious by now that as far as Flames ownerhip goes it's all about keeping customers and selling a new building to the city in which they can make more money from said customers.
