I love how now everybody is jumping aboard the trade Iggy train. My lord people, what do you think we'll get for him now? That ship sailed 2 seasons ago when only a handful of people on here were calling a spade a spade and getting chirped for it. Maximizing assets when they're about to bullet train into the sunset of their careers? That's not when you do it. And Iginla was playing lazy and disinterested 2 years ago. Iginla's value is not very good, particularly considering the guy is a UFA and would only be a rental. Trading Iginla at this juncture would be likely be a mistake, but it'll depend on Feaster's confidence in his ability to re-sign him by trade deadline day (which isn't far away).
A good GM would have shipped his ass two years ago though, as many on here were calling for.
The leadership on this team is terrible.
And for the people calling out Hartley's run and gun system, I suspect it requires full throttle effort. Something this team is completely incapable of delivering.
Inconsistency and a lack of desire colour this team's play on the ice, but I do enjoy this season far more than last, and I do enjoy watching a more upbeat tempo than boring crappy Sutter hockey.
If you're like me, you're fine with tonight, because you kind of knew that the playoffs were a long shot. There was a chance the playoffs might have been in the picture, but with an injured Baertschi, a coach that clearly relies on lazy vets (this is admittedly disappointing) and then a leadership core that is lazy and disinterested, what did we all expect?
I'm okay with losing, as long as we lose hard. I'm okay with picking 1st or 2nd, luckily we seem like we may be negotiating our way into that type of territory.
It feels like the future of the Flames sans Iginla is close, and I really can't wait. The team needs to move on and it will. It will be exciting and eventually this thing will turn around when it happens.
