A man in a women's locker room is different because of this: his body is completely different from the bodies of women, and in general, men are far more likely to prey on women than on other men. It's more about security and difference in anatomy than a sexual issue.
Here's the newsflash: There are gay NFL players. There are gay NHL players. There are gay players in every major sports' locker rooms. How often do you hear about a player assaulting another player in the locker room in a sexual manner? Never. Just because a guy is gay doesn't mean he's suddenly going to start rubbing other dudes in the showers.
Why on earth should a world class athlete have to keep his sexuality a secret until after he retires? Why on earth should it even matter?
